Hello! Just a handful of days until school will be in full-swing! I really enjoyed meeting with each of the kids one-on-one. Their personalities shined! Here are a few reminders and what to expect on the first day of school. FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL REMINDERS Please return all written Independent Study work in your child's Independent Study folder on Monday morning. There will be a crate right outside the backdoor to put the folders into. If you have not turned in your class supplies, please make sure to bring those in as well. Please bring a snack, water bottle, and a lunch. It is helpful if your child knows which item is intended for their snack. I will encourage them to eat one item for snack, and leave the rest for lunch. Some kids eat their snack AND lunch during our 9:45 snack time. FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL PROCEDURE When you bring your child in the morning, please walk them around the side of the school and into the back. Have your child put their Independent Study into the crate, hang up their backpack, and put their lunchbox and water bottle on the shelf. After that, they can play until the whistle blows. When the whistle blows once, all children will freeze and listen for directions. When the whistle blows twice, they will find a colored dot to stand on. On this first day, you are welcome to walk in with the kids, take a few pictures and then head out the front door. I am aware that this will be a tough goodbye! I promise to give lots of hugs and keep them busy so their first day is fabulous. We are out at 1:00. You are welcome to wait out front by the benches or wait at the curb in your vehicle. If you choose to wait in front of the classroom, you must park in a parking spot so the pick-up lane is not blocked. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Below is a list of ways to volunteer. Please fill out the RSVP form below. Once I have heard from everyone, I will let you know the schedule. If there is enough help, I will be able to divide the duties by trimester. At-Home Help- I will put things I need help with in a basket outside my front door. I will include directions and a due date. Right now I need the following help:
In-Class Help- You must have cleared fingerprints in order to volunteer in the classroom.
Thank you for taking the time to be informed! Mrs. Silski Comments are closed.

Mrs. SilskiI'm thrilled to be teaching my sixth year at HRCCS! I went to Chico State where I received a BA in Liberal Studies, a Minor in Latin American Studies and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I taught 3rd/4th for eight years at a multi-age, project-based, performing and visual arts school in my hometown of Stockton. My husband and I moved to Auburn in 2007 to be close to the trails and raise our children, Robby (9) and Amaya (4). I enjoy painting, cooking, working in the yard, and eating my way through San Francisco. Archives
