Each Thursday, your child will bring home their weekly homework and Friday's Independent Study. This homework will consist of sight words as well as books. There will be decodable/sight word books for your child to read to you and picture books for you to read to your child..
Weekly homework should be kept at home for the week, and then returned to school the following Thursday.
What is Independent Study?
Independent Study is assigned work that is completed at home on the school days that your child is not on campus. Please work with your child to make these activities as meaningful as possible. Feel free to change the activities as needed in order to meet the needs of your child. Encourage your child to give their best effort as they complete their Independent Study. Remind them to use their best writing, starting their letters and numbers from the top.
What to Do When Absent
If your child is absent for any reason, or you are looking for additional activities to do, the following assignments are provided for you.
*Choose a book to read to or with your child. If the reading level is appropriate, have them read the story to you.
*Write! Draw a picture and write at least one sentence about it. Use your sounds to write the words and spell sight words correctly.
*Visit one of the website links on our page and complete an activity.
*Visit a museum.
*Complete one of your Homework Calendar options.
Make sure to email a summary of what you completed to Mrs. Silski and turn in any paperwork to receive credit for your day!
